Forest School

Forest school has it’s roots in Denmark where it has been part of early years learning since the 1980’s. It was introduced to the UK by Bridgewater College in 1995

The Forest School Leader here at Battledown did their training through Evesham College.

Using the outdoor environment we are able to follow the children’s lead and plan small achievable tasks that enable the children to

  • be independent
  • grow in confidence
  • raise self esteem
  • problem solve

Each child has the opportunity to visit a site and experience the great outdoors.

The children benefit from experiencing the activities in the outdoor environment. Through these they work with natural materials and are taught to use tools appropriately. They learn the importance of safety, boundaries and how to look after their Forest as well as looking for changes in the environment each week. Most of all they learn to have fun.
