Horse Riding

Children have an opportunity to experience the benefits provided by the Riding for the Disabled Association.

The Cotswold RDA was founded in 1965 and now operates from the Jackie Bruton Riding Centre on Cheltenham Racecourse and keeps its ponies on adjoining land. Riding facilities are provided for more than 200 adults and children on a weekly basis (including Sundays) throughout the year during school term time.

All the riders are physically disabled or have learning difficulties and all receive positive help and a real boost to their confidence during their time with the group.

The children learn to ride while holding the reins, trot and join in games with beanie toys, buckets, poles and ring. This is a fun activity whilst giving children confidence, the ponies are always happy for the children to give them a pat and stroke their noses when the ride comes to an end.

Would you like to sponsor a pony?

The Cotswold RDA Group receives no government funding, so depend entirely on gifts, sponsorship, donations and local fundraising.

Some people like to sponsor a pony to help towards their welfare and upkeep for a year. For a minimum of £10.00 you will receive a picture and details of your sponsored pony. For further details please download the sponsor a pony document.
